Knitting Barf

Ok, not the most pleasant title. But this wasn't the most exciting or enjoyable knitting experience. I just produced this thing without caring for it at all. It makes me resent the time I took to make it.

eh!

Pattern: Noro scarflet, based on the Lady Eleanor pattern
Yarn: Noro Kureyon (yuck) in color #40 (with yucky brown), two balls
Needles: US size 8
Final Dimensions: 45 inches long, 7 inches wide after blocking
Cat: Scout
Comments: This is a sample I made for a entrelac class that I will be teaching at a LYS. I was tempted to stop at one ball because I hated it so much, but decided to continue. I didn't even bother to take a good photo of this thing. Click on the image for a slightly bigger view.

The following is NOT knitting barf:

Thanks for all the kind comments on Rogue! I was overwhelmed by all the responses that I got. I wanted to answer them all, but life is getting in the way. Less time for knitting, even less time for blogging and playing on the computer.

I was also tickled by all the anti-Noro comments. If I were at all adept at graphical design, I would make a "Just Say No to Noro" button. But alas, I'm not so gifted and I don't have time to learn.

Bummer that was a painful knit. I've been thinking about frogging my Klaralund and making Lady Eleanor - I think I'd get more use out of it. My color choice for that also had a surprise color in it that turns me off.

Brown was indeed a weird color choice for the Noro designers to throw in there. Without it, some stretches of the scarf look really nice.

Well, now it's out of the way, and you'll like your next knitting project all the more in comparison. Onward and upward!

Well, although it might not have been a pleasurable experience, the FO is quite attractive! Plus Scout seems to approve.

It photographs well.

I bet if you offered it as a swap on Knittyboard, you'd get a lot of takers and might be able to do pretty well in the deal.

Or gift it to a relative next year at Christmas. How do you like your MIL?

Hmm, I've never used Kureyon so I don't know how it feels, but those are some weird colors. Scout even looks surprised. ;)

The entrelac looks really nice, and your students will like seeing how entrelac looks in self-striping yarn. I have been wearing my Silk Garden scarf and I get lots of compliments on it, but it is stretching out really badly.

I'm not going to be rushing out to buy any more Noro, that's for sure.

Miss Laura

Looks like Scout has an opinion about your FO *chuckle*

I personally adore Kureyon but I know many people don't so that's okay - your knitting is ALWAYS beautiful and I enjoy seeing what your talented fingers will crank out next. If you'd like to swap something for that scarf I'd be game (Thanks Elizabeth!) just holla my way!

*hugs*

I made Boga Bag with a similar color of Noro and cut out the brown parts (It was going to be felted, so I didn't think it was a big deal) and was pleased with the results.

Sorry you were unhappy with it, the scarf is lovely though.

Just this morning I saw the Eleanor Entrelac scarf... looking very much like yours, and IT's creator was very very very VERY happy with it. Wasn't going to post it on YKW, or libel it by calling it Barf. I'm not sure I'd want to knit one, but yours looks pretty good to me! Can't wait to see the darling girls pink beady socks, either.
