What have I done?!

Knitting content to return tomorrow...

I quit my job. After many months of talking about quitting my job, I called penultimate boss-man this morning and told him that I wanted to be gone by the beginning of March. Thankfully, I don't have to make the same call to ultimate boss-man. My direct supervisor (boss-man) has known since August that I wanted to quit, but he wants to quit too so he didn't tell anyone about my situation. (Yes, I have three supervisors, five if you count the two boss-women who also work on my project but are not considered my direct supervisors.)

I have been working for this company in some capacity since 1998. So, although I have been wanting to quit for some time, I still cried when I actually gave my verbal resignation. Overall, the company has been good to me over the years, but some recent developments have made it difficult for me to continue loving my job.

Starting next month I will be a freelance writer and editor specializing in science education print and electronic publications. So if you need a freelancer, contact me. I'm going to need the work!

A hearty congratulations--and some sympathy! That's really hard, to take the plunge. Here's to much luck with your freelance life. Think of all the spare moments you'll now have for knitting!

If you no longer love the job, being able to quit is a good thing. Wish you have a good start being a freelancer.

Exciting! Good for you for knowing it was time, it is a hard call to make, and harder still when you have allegiance to your employer, but it sounds like it was time. Best wishes on your new endeavors.

Wow, congratulations! I know you're confident that this was the right decision, but I totally get how you can feel that way and still have some mixed feelings that make you a little sad.

I hope the freelance work comes pouring in for you at a lucrative hourly rate!

That's a hard thing to do, but it sounds as though it was definitely the right thing to do. Good luck to you, and congratulations!

Good for you! You've been wrestling with this idea for a while. It's hard to change, but it must be what you needed.

It sounds as though you took fate into your own hands, and hey, that is a positive step. I wish you the best, you will probably feel a little anxious but also feel so much relief. And the only way you can now have five bosses is if you develop multiple personalities ;) Good Luck!
