Phooey!

It gets worse. The other sleeve does not match the body of the sweater. It matches the lighter part of the two-toned sleeve. The body matches the darker part of the two-toned sleeve. SIGH!

I called Chester Farms today and explained what happened. They don't have any more of the dye lot. (Not that getting more of the same dye lot would insure I had matching colors. The yarn that I have supposedly came from the same dye lot.) The nice woman on the phone asked me to send a sample of the yarn that I wanted matched and that they would do their best to match it.

So, I sent of my scrap of yarn with a polite, yet sternly-worded letter. We will see what happens next.

Until then, Rogue will wait unfinished.

Oh man, that sucks! Just when you were so close to finishing. You could dye the whole thing dark purple -- then I bet you wouldn't see the difference anymore.

This happened to my mom. She made a huge afghan out of yarn all from the same dye lot, and when it was done she realized there was a large stripe about 3/4 of the way in that was much, much lighter than the rest. I guess one ball was not like the others. Because hers was a big rectangle we decided to call the stripe artsy, but I don't think you could get away with that on sleeves. Unfortunately.

Good luck! I hope you get a lot of free yarn out of this!

Wow; I would also be so angry! And you've really done some beautiful work there.

I do like the idea of overdying the whole thing, although you likely won't get the colour you were originally going for. It just seems like the least of all the evils.

That is truly annoying!!! Here's hoping they can come up with something that'll work for you.

Okay, now I'm worried!

I did an afghan once before I even knew about dye lots and it is two-toned, but to have it happen with "same" dye-lots!

How incredibly frustrating!

I wonder if some of the yarn was left in the sun? But, then only the outside would bleach, while the rest would stay true.

If you can't get a bunch that's all a good match, you can at least soften the impact by knitting with two balls in alternating rows.
